Why Summer Might Be the Perfect Time to Pause — Rosé Included!

Summer can be so full, full of light, full of people, full of expectation to enjoy every moment.
But sometimes it also leaves us longing for space.

I’m Stefanie, mum, a breathwork facilitator and holistic guide for those navigating full lives and seeking a little more space to breathe and reconnect. I write these monthly reflections as a way for us to breathe together, gently reset and return to what matters.

Lately, I’ve been feeling the pace of life shift once again.

My kids are growing up so fast! So this summer, more than any before, I’ve been holding onto the small moments:
long, unhurried meals, sunny walks without a schedule, all the fun and games! I have a sense of time stretching and collapsing all at once.

As a mother, a facilitator, and a woman walking her own path, I can feel that something is changing and instead of rushing to figure it all out, I’m allowing myself to breathe through it.

The Space Between

August has always felt like an in-between month to me, still summer, still light, still full of joy and adventure and yet, something begins to soften.

It holds the energy of fire and sun but also of regeneration, of letting go, of preparing for the next chapter - getting ready for the busy return to school and work, while also slowing down and allowing new opportunities to come in. It’s all about finding balance.

Summer is also the time of BBQs, birthdays, sunshine gatherings, beach days and that extra glass of rosé. It’s a season of celebration and connection and I’m here for all of it.

Balance doesn’t mean restriction, it means remembering to check in with yourself while you’re enjoying life.

You can love the party and honour your me time. You can pour a second glass and still stay grounded in your body.
You can say yes to dessert and also know when to say no.

We’re also moving through what’s known as the Lion’s Gate Portal, which peaks on the 8th of August. In many traditions, this alignment between the Earth, Sun and the star Sirius is seen as a powerful time for spiritual growth and realignment. It’s said to radiate potent vibrational frequencies that can awaken something deep within us, elevating our consciousness, activating clarity and gently calling us back to our own inner knowing.

Some believe this portal opens a window to access our potential and purpose by turning inward and attuning to higher guidance. To me, it’s about remembering that we’re allowed to pause, reset and rebuild with more intention.

So while we’re enjoying the full expression of summer - the gatherings, the sun, the celebration - we’re also invited to check in with what’s quietly shifting within. This is the gift of August: a reminder to listen, to come back to your centre and to grow into who you're meant to be, one soft breath at a time.

How We Rebuild Matters

So often, change is talked about as something we “do”. I believe the most lasting shifts begin when we allow ourselves to simply notice, to be in the change, not force it.

This month, I’ve stepped back from doing. I’m not launching. I’m not mapping out the rest of the year. I’m walking, resting, being with my family, making space for joy and spontaneity.

I’m rebuilding from the inside out.

And what I’m learning (again) is that we don’t have to choose between purpose and presence. We can hold both. You can hold your vision and still give yourself room to pause. You can move forward without rushing. You can be intentional without being in control.

And you can absolutely enjoy the wine, the late nights, the messy laughter — without guilt.

It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being honest with yourself.

Reset Tip

The next time you feel off-centre after a full day, try this:

Stand barefoot. No phone. No to-do list.
Place your hand over your chest or belly and take three slow breaths.
Ask yourself: “What would bring me back into balance right now?”

It could be water, stillness, stretching, or simply going to bed early.
Let the answer be simple.

A Walk and a Whisper

If you're not sure what you need right now, take a walk.

No phone. No podcast. No pressure to figure anything out. Just walk. Let your breath set the pace.
Notice the trees, the sky, the light on your skin.

And then, when you come home or find a quiet moment, sit with these:

  • Where in my life do I feel most aligned and where do I feel disconnected?

  • What does my body need in order to feel supported as I rebuild?

  • What part of me is quietly asking to grow right now?

You don’t need to find the answers straight away. Just ask. Just listen.
That’s where the shift begins.

What Comes Next

I’ll be back in September with fresh offerings to support this transition into the new season, including a free breathwork taster session and a seasonal workshop.

Everything I offer is rooted in this rhythm: breath, beauty, balance and the kind of self-connection that holds you gently through change.

Until then, I’ll be continuing to walk slowly, breathe deeply and honour this moment in between.

If you're doing the same, I'm so glad we’re here together.
